Off Post Housing

Fort Polk is in a more remote area of west central Louisiana and not near many towns or cities. The small communities that are nearby, including Leesville, have under 3,000 residents. They include Simpson, New Llano, Anacoco, and Pitkin. An average commute is about 17 minutes.

On Post Housing

Fort Polk on post housing is privatized and managed by Corvias. Housing applicants may be placed on a waiting list until appropriate space becomes available. There are limited units available for the base population of over 22,000 military personnel and family. Housing units with 2, 3, 4. and 5 bedrooms are available, including single family units, duplexes, and apartments. Many units have dishwashers, garbage disposals, ovens, stoves, laundry hookups, and covered or garage parking. If a home assigned is not acceptable, declining puts the soldier to the bottom of the wait list.
